Dane to hold book signing
Release Date: 11/6/2006
Clarksville, Ark. --- Author and historian Nancy Dane will sign copies of her new novel "Where the Road Begins" during a book signing event from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the University of the Ozarks' Robson Library.
“Where the Road Begins” portrays the life of a hard-working Ozarks Mountain family during the Civil War. It is based on the documentary history book Tattered Glory, which Dane compiled from 10 years of research of life in the Arkansas River Valley during the Civil War.
The forward, written by University of Arkansas history professor Tom Wing, stated, “The book covers the fictional experiences of an Arkansas family during the war but could be straight from a genuine diary kept during the conflict.”
Dr. Fritz Ehren, president emeritus of the University of the Ozarks, said in his endorsement, “The author’s portrayal of the hardships faced by soldiers in both armies is the best I have read. The horror of battle will grip the reader and leave a lasting impression.”
Dane and her husband reside in Dover, Ark. She attended Lamar High School and the University of the Ozarks. They have four children, all graduates of Lamar High School and U of O.
Copies of “Where the Road Begins” will be available for purchase at the book signing. More information on the book and the author can be found at www.nancydane.com.
