The President's Post
On Friday, October 4th at 4 p.m., this campus will celebrate one of the most significant events in our long and distinguished history: the dedication of Walker Hall. We have been planning this event for the past several months, and it promises to be a festive and memorable occasion. The dedication will occur during the fall Board of Trustee meeting, and a variety of people will be in attendance who have had a significant impact on Ozarks’ heritage and history of success.

Walker Hall is not the biggest building on campus in terms of square footage but, at $7,000,000, it will be our most expensive one. Walker Hall is also our most current state-of-the-art facility in regard to modern technology, classrooms, conference and meeting space, offices, lounge areas, furnishings, and interior design. The circular staircase, expansive skylight, and ornate décor provide a breathtakingly beautiful first impression as you enter the building. The exterior of the building is spectacular as well, and the red granite steps, massive columns, and majestic wood doors are stately and elegant.

Walker Hall replaces Hurie Hall, named for Dr. Wiley Lin Hurie who was President of Ozarks from 1923-1949. Hurie Hall served this campus well for many years before it wore out. Walker Hall honors it by replicating the architectural style and design. Mary Virginia Hurie Parks, Dr. Hurie’s daughter, will attend the dedication of Walker Hall along with her son and grandson. The past, the present, and the future of Ozarks will be well represented that day.

Please join us on October 4th as we add another dimension to the beauty of this campus. To be a part of history is a privilege, but to make history is an extraordinary honor.

Dr. Rick Niece
