always try my best not to get caught up in the hype
of U.S. News & World Reports annual Americas
Best Colleges ratings. And, for the most part, it is purely
hype. However (and that is a big however), that ranking is the only
national and campus comparison of its kind. People pay attention to
it, and so do I.
For the third consecutive year, Ozarks is ranked as
a first-tier university in the South. That in itself is
a marvelous achievement. There are 104 institutions in our category
Comprehensive Bachelors Degree College and we moved
up from a ranking of 26th last year to 12th this year. That is an impressive
leap. The Comprehensive Bachelors Degree category includes institutions
that focus primarily on undergraduate education and offer a variety
of degree programs in the liberal arts as well as in professional fields.
Even more impressive is our ranking as a Best Value.
We are now listed as the number two Best Value in the South. That distinction
is based upon the quality of education an institution provides in comparison
to the cost for that education. Our Ozarks education is truly
a best value education.
We are sometimes so close to the action at Ozarks
that we lose sight of everthing we are doing well on this campus. But
others are noticing, and we are finally being recognized throughout
the state, region, and nation. Our reputation is catching up with our
performance. And our performance and reputation are truly extraordinary.
