University Theatre brings musical "See Rock City" to campus stage

The University of the Ozarks Theatre will close its 93rd season with the 2011 award-winning musical "See Rock City and Other Destinations," May 2, 3 and 4.
The productions will be held in the Black Box Theatre, located in the Walton Fine Arts Center. Seating begins at 7 p.m. and curtains open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 each and seating is limited. Tickets can be purchased on-line at www.ozarks.edu/theatre.
"See Rock City and Other Destinations" is a contemporary musical about connections missed and made at tourist destinations across America. The play contains strong language and mild adult themes.
The play will be directed by Walton Professor of Theatre Bruce B. Brown. Provost Dr. Daniel Taddie, a former professor of music, will serve as the production's music director. John Davis will be the stage manager.
The crew also includes Brown as technical director, Davis as light board operator and box office manager, Clayton Beck as sound board operator, Utah Robertson as assistant stage manager and scenic coordinator, David Pluebell as properties coordinator and Jacqueline Jurcik as costume coordinator.
The cast includes Justin Hughes, Lauren Charters, Darrick Conroy, Utah Robertson, Kincaid McMinn, Jacqueline Jurcik, Annie Williams, David Pluebell, Tori Rhein, Catalina Ruiz, Gabriela Pena, Isabella Clark, Katelyn Nichols and Alisha Nystrom.
Written by Brad Alexander and Adam Mathias, the dramatic comedy musical was nominated for six Drama Desk Awards and earned Mathias an award for Outstanding Book of a Musical.
The musical involves themes of adolescence, death, friendship, love marriage, memory and parenting. A review in the The Rural Intelligence said, "For anyone who loves musical theater, See Rock City & Other Destinations is relevant, entertaining, and worth going out of your way to see."
