Clarksville, Ark. --- Chuck Dovish, host of the AETN program "Exploring Arkansas" will be on campus on Wednesday, November 30 to speak to the Student Producers class about what goes on behind the scenes of producing the highly popular program.
Chuck Dovish, host of AETN's program "Exploring Arkansas" will be on campus on November 30.
"Exploring Arkansas" is a weekly program modeled after "National Geographic Explorer," but which showcases the outdoor opportunities, the culture, and the heritage of the state of Arkansas. Dovish is expected to cover topics such as how the destinations for the program are selected, how the story is developed, and the quality control standards used when creating the finished project.
According to Susan Edens, Director of Broadcasting at Ozarks, the students in the Student Producers class have been working on their own outdoor-inspired video projects this semester, inspired by the "Exploring Arkansas" program. These student produced programs cover topics such as the bike trails in Clarksville, Strawberry Bluff, Haw Creek Falls, Glory Hole, the Little Rock Trail System, and Pinnacle Mountain, near Little Rock. "The idea is to bring in a professional who is regularly putting work on state-wide television to talk to them. Many of the things they'll be familiar with, but Dovish will also introduce them to some new tips and strategies," she said. If time permits, Edens said she hopes Dovish will be able to view the students' work and critique their projects.
Dovish will meet with the class in room 133 of Walker Hall at 10:00 am. The presentation is open to the campus community.
Following a tour of the communication facility, Dovish will join Edens and the Student Producers class for lunch in the President's Dining Room in Seay Student Center. Members of the campus community and the general public are invited to join Dovish for the luncheon. Cost of the lunch is approximately $7 for those individuals not on a student meal plan. Seating is limited, so please RSVP Susan Edens at firstname.lastname@example.org if you'd like to attend.
