Clarksville, Ark. --- Stages Theatre for Youth at the University of the Ozarks will offer a special "Theatre Discovery Day" on Saturday, Dec. 13, on the U of O campus.
Stages Director Ginny Sain and U of O theatre students will present a full day of fun and exciting workshops designed to get kids of all ages on stage to explore the magical art of theatre in a non-competitive, friendly and entertaining way.
Students in kindergarten through fifth grades will be introduced to the theatre arts through pantomime and storytelling, music and movement, drama games and activities, and a special tour of the U of O theatre facilities.
Students in 6th through 12th grades will enjoy hilarious theatre and improvisation games designed to get them thinking creatively, character creation activities, lessons in professional acting techniques, and the chance to act in a scene with a partner. There will also be a detailed tour of the theatre facilities and the chance for some “hands on" experience with lighting and other technical elements.
Times for the workshops are as follows: K-2nd Graders: 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; 3rd-5th Graders: 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; 6th-8th Graders: 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and 9th-12th Graders: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
