Clarksville, Ark. -- On Wednesday, Oct. 17, the International Day for Poverty Eradication, University of the Ozarks students will have the opportunity to participate in a global video conference to discuss topics such as debt relief and education. The video conference will link students in a live, direct dialogue with young leaders in other countries including Honduras, Senegal and Uganda.
The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Walker Hall.
The video conference will open with reports by guest experts at each site giving presentations in response to the following questions:
This video conference is sponsored by the U of O Amnesty International Chapter in a partnership with Americans for Informed Democracy (AID), a youth organization that seeks to empower young people to take up today’s global challenges -- such as climate change, poverty, AIDS, terrorism and violent conflict -- as the special mission of their generation.
