Clarksville, Ark. --- The University of the Ozarks Theatre Department will close out its 2006 fall schedule with the production of Santaland Diaries at 7:30 p.m., Dec. 7 and 8, in the Walton Fine Arts Center on campus. The play is intended for mature audiences.
Adopted from bestselling author David Sedaris’ hilarious essays on the Christmas season, Santaland Diaries tells the story of a young writer who accepts a job as a Macy’s elf to pay rent. His accounts of obnoxious customers, the pains of elf training and the often weird techniques of different Santa’s provide a laugh-until-you-cry evening guaranteed to delight adult audiences.
James M. Pritchett, a senior theatre major from Purdon, Texas, will play the role of Crumpet, the elf. Ozarks Theatre Professor Steve Knight will direct the play. Jorden Ridenhour will serve as stage manager, and Ozarks Theatre Professor Bruce B. Brown is the technical director.
Other crew members include, Phillip Perez, Grace Ann Harnish, Jessica Henderson, Jeff Haynes, Erin Fuller, Alex Chandler, Kristina Davenport, Leah Short, Christopher Cunningham, Lacey Kennedy, Jenava Moreau, Annie Mitchell, Karen Murray and Danielle Stover.
Tickets for the play are $5 and can be purchased on the evening of the performance.
