The Reverend Karen Rogers
The Reverend Karen Rogers, Pastor of First United Presbyterian Church, Guthrie, Oklahoma, comes to Ozarks as part of the James R. Struthers Pastoral Study Program. Rogers was ordained as a Minister of the Word and Sacrament in 1992 and served yoked congregations in Louisiana before coming to Guthrie. A native of Louisiana, she graduated from Grove City College in Western Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree in religion, and earned a Master of Divinity degree in 1992 from Colombia Theological Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia.
Prior to her pursuit of ordained ministry, Rogers served as a social worker and was involved extensively in rehabilitation efforts among juvenile delinquents in Shreveport, Louisiana. She maintains a professional interest as an ordained minister in conflict resolution, having engaged in numerous Presbyterian Church (U.S.A)-sponsored conflict resolution initiatives in war-torn Croatia throughout the 1990’s.
During her sojourn on campus, Rogers will utilize the resources of the Robson Library for reading and research, preach a sermon during the Ozarks at Worship Tuesday Morning service in the Raymond Munger Memorial Chapel, attend classes, and interact with students, faculty, and staff.
