Fall Commencement scheduled for Dec. 14

Clarksville, Ark. --- Fourteen graduates are expected to receive diplomas during University of the Ozarks' 2011 Fall Commencement ceremonies, scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 14.

The Commencement ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. in Munger Chapel, followed by a reception in Walker Hall for the graduates, their family and friends, and the campus community.

Ivan Quant, a 1998 Ozarks graduate, will be the Fall 2011 commencement speaker.

U of O board of trustee member and 1998 Ozarks graduate Ivan Quant of Nicaragua will serve as the commencement speaker. Quant, a former Walton International Scholar at Ozarks, is the operation manager of ERQ LLC and is responsible for directing investment activity in Nicaragua. ERQ LLC owns eight restaurants in Managua, Nicaragua. He is responsible for the identification, evaluation, and consummation of all new investments, acquisitions and joint ventures in the country. In addition, Quant directs all aspects of operations, policies, and initiatives for ERQ LLC.

Before joining ERQ LLC, Quant spent two years with Caterpillar Nicaragua, the largest heavy machinery and construction equipment Company of Nicaragua. He served in a key account sales management role and his responsibilities included developing relationships and promoting company products to small and large contractors, architects, engineers, and small businesses. During a two-year experience in the construction industry, Quant decided to pursue more pioneering opportunities in the emerging real estate markets of Nicaragua. He founded a company called Quant Developments S.A. to acquire prime real estate in Nicaragua. Quant Developments S.A. currently has ownerships interests and operates 18 apartments in Villa Fontana, a high growth area in Managua. Also, Quant Developments has acquired 20 acres in the proximity of Masaya Volcano National Park to be developed in the future.

Quant holds a master's degree in business administration from Kennesaw State University in Atlanta, Ga., and is an active member of the International SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) Organization. He and his wife, Fernanda, have two children, and are expecting their third child in February.
