The exhibit will run from Sept. 6 through Sept. 30 in the Stephens Gallery, located in the Walton Fine Arts Center. The exhibit is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the week and there is no charge for admission. There will be a reception to meet the artists from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17.

Caldwell, who has taught at Ozarks since 1982, works largely with wood sculptures.

“I love wood,” said Caldwell. “I like the way it looks, smells and feels. I love its natural warmth in all the infinite variety of grains and patterns. No other sculpture media is so adaptable to such a wide range of treatments... It lends itself readily to exploration of unique forms.”

Caldwell describes his style as “direct,” and he seldom uses models for his sculptures.

“I prefer to let the uniqueness of the material suggest the direction of the emerging form,” he said. “While in some cases the form will almost seem to jump out at me, it is more often a long and tedious process.”

Harrington, who has taught at Ozarks since 2002, said her mixed media artwork has evolved through her life experiences, including becoming a mother.

“My artwork is a depiction of who I am,” she said. “In my work, I use the self-portrait to explore my physical appearance, my emotions, my experiences and my role and impact in society. This show depicts my work from early in my art career to the present... My role as a mother has had a profound influence on my identity. These artworks reflect my journey, my identity and the transformation that I have gone through up to this point in my life.”
