Earth Day Essay Contest Winners Announced

Clarksville, Ark. --- On Tuesday, Dr. Brian Hardman announced the winners of the Workman Award for best essay in honor of Earth Day 2010.

Essayists were instructed to forecast the future by looking ten years ahead to 2020 to speculate on what the major environmental issues and challenges of that time will be, as well as possible solutions to these challenges. 

The first place winner of $400 was Tristan Cooper, followed by Brandon Carlson in second place with $300, Andrea Dankert in third place with $200, and the fourth place winner of $100 was Naima Lopez.

The Workman Award was generously funded by Dr. Wayne and Betty Workman.

The esteemed judging panel who contributed their time and talent to the contest were Kendrick Prewitt, Debbie Eldridge, Patrick Morgan, and Kim Van Scoy (assisted by Doug Jeffries).
