Clarksville, Ark. --- Ben Jones scored a career-high 28 points and also had 12 rebounds to lead the University of the Ozarks Eagles to a 95-81 victory over University of Texas-Dallas in an American Southwest Conference game at Mabee Gymnasium last Thursday.
The Lady Eagles also won their game over UTD, 68-61, to give their head coach, Jack Jones, his 299th career victory at the college and give Ozarks the doubleheader sweep.
In the men's game, Ben Jones connected on 12-of-15 field goals to lead an Eagles squad which hit 50 percent of its shots from the field. Daniel Shepherd added 17 points and Ricky Johnson and Patrick Prater each added 16 for the Eagles, which snapped a four-game losing slide with the victory.
In the women's game, Aimee Rogers scored a career-high 16 points and Christie Shuffield and Amanda Dean added 14 and 13 points, respectively, as the Lady Eagles rolled to the seven-point win.
On Saturday, in Mabee Gym the Lady Eagles were not so fortunate as the University of Dallas denied Jones his 300th career victory with a 63-55 triumph over Ozarks. The Lady Eagles hit just 13 percent (3-of-23) on three-point attempts in falling to 6-9 overall and 1-2 in the ASC.
In the men's contest, the Eagles got 23 points from Shepherd and 13 from Johnson to handle the Crusaders 67-50. The victory moved the Eagles to 8-7 over and 2-1 in the ASC's East Division, goof for third place behind Mississippi College and Austin College.
Both the Eagles and Lady Eagles are on the road this week, Thursday at LeTourneau University and Saturday at Mississippi College. The next home game is Feb. 4 against LeTourneau.
