U of O's Learning Center to Sponsor Conference

Clarksville, Ark. --- The University of the Ozarks' Jones Learning Center will present a one-day learning disabilities conference for the public on Thursday, Sept. 27, on the Ozarks campus.
The conference, which is open to educators, parents and students, will be presented by JLC staff members and will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Jones Learning Center. The pre-registration cost for the conference is $60, and on-site registration is $70.
There will be four sessions during the day, with participants having a choice of five different workshops per session. Emphasized in the presentations will be ways to better understand students with disabilities and attention deficit disorders, as well as strategies to ensure their success in education and life. Among the 20 workshops that will be offered are "Growing up with ADD," "Building Study Skills for College," "LD Simulation," and "Tutoring Students with Learning Disabilities."
The registration fee includes a luncheon, as well as coffee and muffins in the morning. All proceeds from the conference will benefit the Shelli Stewart Lamberson Scholarship fund for JLC students with financial need.
