Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks guard Jordyn Ferrell was named to the Capital One Academic All-America Women’s Basketball All-District Team, it was announced by the College of Sports Information Directors of America.
Ferrell, a senior, ranks among the top-20 in the American Southwest Conference in scoring (10.8), rebounding (5.8), assists (3.1), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.5) and free throw percentage (80.8%). The 5-foot-9 native of West Fork, Ark., has started in all 21 games this season and is the team-leader in assists, assist-to-turnover ratio and free throw percentage. She ranks second in scoring. She scored a career-high 26 points and hit all 14 of her free throw attempts against Hendrix College November 20. She has reached double figures in scoring 11 times and has been perfect from the free throw line eight times this season.
A physical education major, Ferrell is a member of the ASC All-Academic Team. She was the ASC’s Player of the Week in December.
The Capital One Academic All-District Women’s Basketball Team, formerly known as the ESPN Academic All-District Team, recognizes outstanding NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA student-athletes from the region.
To be eligible for Academic All-America honors, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for their career. Freshmen are not eligible.
