University Theatre to present The Mousetrap

Release Date: 4/2/2008

Clarksville, Ark. --- University of the Ozarks Theatre closes its 2007-2008 season with a production of the world's longest running play, Agatha Christie's murder mystery "The Moustrap" on April 17 and 18 in the Walton Fine Arts Center.

The play begins at 7:30 p.m. each night in the Seay Theatre. General admission tickets are $8 each and tickets for senior citizens are $6 each.

A classic English whodunit, The Mousetrap features all the conventions of the genre: archetypal characters, an isolated manor house, an incisive detective, clues galore, red herrings and a surprise ending. The play opened in London in 1952 and is still playing to enthusiastic audiences.

Christie (1890-1976) is the best selling mystery writer of all time with more than two billion books sold. Her 80 novels and short story collections, her 16 plays and the innumerable motion picture and television adaptations of her works made her an international celebrity.

The play will be directed by U of O Walton Professor of Theatre Pat Farmer. Professor Bruce B. Brown is the set designer and technical director. Lacey Kennedy is the lighting designer, Erin Fuller the costume designer, Annie Mitchell the graphic designer, Jenava Moreau the sound designer, and Leah Short the stage manager.

The cast includes U of O students Rebecca Arnold, Josh Tarvin, Phillip Perez, Jenava Moreau, Martin Morales, Erin Fuller, Jeff Haynes II and Andrew Charles Heim. The crew includes Houston Hall, Brigitte Bridoux, Lacey Kennedy, Grace Harnish, Kristina Davenport, Richard Chen, Annie Mitchell, Lissa Malcom, Colin Johnson, Catalina Ruiz and Danielle Stover.
