Clarksville, Ark. --- The University of the Ozarks Theatre Department will present its production of The Spitfire Grill on Oct. 13 and 14 to kick off its 2006-2007 season.
The curtain will be at 7:30 p.m. each evening in the Walton Fine Arts Center on the Ozarks campus. General admission is $8 and senior citizen tickets are $6 each. The box office will open at 6 p.m. each evening.
The Spitfire Grill, based on a 1996 screenplay written by Lee David Zlotoff, is an American folk-rock musical about a young woman with a mysterious past who brings renewed life to a small town in Wisconsin.
The cast includes U of O students Erin Fuller, Kristina Davenport, Jenava K. Moreau, Phillip Perez, Christopher Cunningham, Danielle Stover and Alex Chandler.
Theatre Professor Bruce B. Brown will serve as stage director and scenic designer and Dr. Daniel Taddie, senior vice president for academic affairs ands dean of faculty, will serve as music director and conductor. Also on the production team are Grace Anne Harnish, Annie Mitchell, James M. Pritchett and Leah Short. The technical production crew includes Pritchett, Mitchell, Jessica Henderson, Lacey Kennedy, Leah Short, Jorden Ridenhour, Garrett Kilgore, Karen Murray, Al Berry, Jeff Haynes, Professor Steve Knight, Ryan Fox, Johnny Wong and Craig Hagar.
A USA Today review called The Spitfire Grill “an abundance of warmth, spirit and goodwill! …. Some of the most engaging and instantly infectious melodies I’ve heard in an original musical in some time.”
