1. I have asked Jana Hart to accept the position of Interim Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid. Jana will oversee the daily operations of Admissions and Financial Aid and will implement several new strategies including: reducing our response time to potential students; improving our on-line application system; and seeking methods to include faculty more directly in the admissions process. I have great faith in Jana, her instincts, and ability to listen and lead. 2. We have hired a consultant, who specializes in recruitment and financial aid net revenue strategies, to assist Jana in her new role. I am impressed with the consultant and the models she is sharing with us. She is the Vice President for Enrollment at a campus in New York comparable to ours that, several years ago, was experiencing recruiting challenges similar to what we are facing. 3. Deborah Sisson will serve as the Faculty-Admissions Liaison while also remaining a full-time faculty member. Deborah’s previous experience in admissions will serve us well. My goal is to improve the relations between academics and Admissions and to better utilize faculty input during the admittance process. All
of us on this campus have a stake in recruitment and retention, our
lifeblood as a University. I ask for your continued advice, assistance,
and positive involvement in our students’ enrollment and ultimate
success. Dr. Rick Niece
