Finals
Week Activities
As finals week approaches, the Student Life Office
has been putting together many activites to help students relieve that
end-of-the-semester stress. The finals week activities will kick off
on Sunday night beginning with Healthy Snacks from 7-10
p.m. in the downstairs area of the Student Center. The snacks will include
fruit, Nutragrain bars, water, and juices. Monday night, snacks will
again be served, but there will be the added bonus of free massages
by Joe Johnston. The annual Study Night Breakfast will be held at 10
p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11. Plenty of prizes will be awarded and the breakfast
will be served by faculty and staff. The last night of activities will
be Wednesday and healthy snacks will be served again. The student life
staff invites everyone to attend these fun and relaxing activities.
Christmas with the Nieces
President and First Lady Rick and Shereé Niece
invite you and yours to join them as they celebrate the holiday season.
They will open their home from 2-6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12, for faculty,
staff, students, and friends who wish to celebrate with them. There
will be music, merriment, and food, so dress casually and bring your
appetite. If you wish to attend, please contact Paula at 979-1242 by
Dec. 10.
Winter Gallery
Gig
The University of the Ozarks' music department will
present its annual Winter Gallery Gig at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6th,
in the Stephens Gallery of the Walton Fine Arts Center. The small vocal
ensemble, Ozarks Vocal Persuasion, will present both the sacred and
secular stories of Christmas. The University Ringers will also be playing
familiar Christmas melodies. The event is free and open to the public,
and refreshments will be served.
Steinmillers
Art on Display
University of the Ozarks senior art student Eric Steinmiller
of Arkadelphia will have his art displayed in the universitys
Stephens Gallery as the Artist of the Month for December. Steinmiller's
exhibit is entitled, Expressions in Art, and features a
mixture of media, including large canvas oil paintings. Steinmiller's
work includes both abstract and representational figures, and he cites
French artist Edgar Degas and the baroque painting style as key influences
in his art. Steinmillers are will be on display from Dec. 1 to
Jan. 14 in the Stephens Gallery. There will be a reception to meet the
artist from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, in the gallery.
Faculty Enrichment
Award
The Alumni Association will once again sponsor the
Faculty Enrichment Award, which includes a stipend of $1,000. To apply,
submit a proposal that states the reason you seek the award, indicating
very specifically how you plan to use the stipend and how it will enrich
you as a faculty member at Ozarks. Please limit your proposal to two
pages and include letters of recommendation from a student and division
chair. Please turn in your proposal to the Alumni Office no later than
Jan. 18, 2002.
Beat Tech
Luncheon
Faculty, staff and students are invited to a pre-game
Beat Tech luncheon before the mens basketball game
with Arkansas Tech on Monday, Jan. 31. The pre-game bash, sponsored
by the Alumni Association and the U of O Athletic Booster Club, will
be held at 12:30 p.m. at Cagles Mill restaurant in Russellville.
The game between the Eagles and Wonder Boys begins at 3 p.m. at Tucker
Coliseum on the Tech campus. Please RSVP to Reba Pridgin in the Alumni
Relations Office at Ext. 1413.
Alpha &
Omega Dinner
Alpha & Omega is sponsoring a fund-raising dinner
at 6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7, in Seay Cafeteria. Proceeds from the dinner
will go toward the organizations mission trip to El Salvador in
the summer of 2002. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased from any Alpha
& Omega member.
Aramarks
Christmas Dinner
The Ozarks Dining Service will be presenting a Christmas
Buffet from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, in Seay Cafeteria.
The meal will include Yankee Pot Roast, Christmas Day Fettuccine, mashed
potatoes, sweet potato casserole, corn and spiced apple cake. The meal
is $5 at the door or $2 with a white meal ticket.
