The President's
Post
Each
of the past three summers we have completed a multitude of construction,
renovation, and beautification projects designed to improve our campus.
This coming summer will be no exception. We continue to enhance Ozarks
in exciting ways, and I want to provide a brief update of this summers
plans.
According to our contractors, Walker Hall remains
on track for completion in August. We will not schedule formal classes
in Walker Hall until spring semester 2003 and will use the fall semester
to move the Education Division, the Communications Program, faculty,
staff, and equipment into the new location. And what a state-of-the-art,
magnificent facility it will be!
We will resurface the MacLean parking lot and pave
areas that have never been paved before. That is a long-needed improvement
at MacLean. At the Hurie Athletic Fields, we will asphalt the basketball
court and the tennis courts, two areas that are currently unrecognizable
from neglect.
The exterior of the Mabee Physical Education Building
is going to receive a facelift during the summer. Paint, trim, repair,
and landscaping will help to bring Mabee up to the appearance of our
other buildings. The preliminary plans look great, and I think we will
all be pleased with Mabees transformation.
The Seay Student Center is finally going to be re-carpeted
(hurrah!) upstairs and downstairs. Downstairs the Eagles Nest
will be expanded and new furniture will be purchased. With the chic
Ozarks Bookstore, the refurbished Eagles Nest, and a more attractive
and relaxing lounge area, the downstairs of Seay will be a classy and
comfortable student gathering place.
And the beat goes on!
