and you can catch all the action on the Presidents big screen
TV.
U of Os annual Super Bowl Party begins at 4

(students, staff, and faculty) is invited. The event will be hosted
by John and Julia Frost and David and Malea De Seguirant. Dont

Maintenance On-line
Do you have something that needs repaired? Well, now
you can find help on-line. There is a new on-line method of contacting
the U of O maintenance office for work and repair requests on campus.
If you have a maintenance work/repair request, call
up the U of O web site (www.ozarks.edu),
click on the Campus Services link and then the Physical
Plant link. Fill out the work request form describing
your problem and Send It in. You will receive an e-mail
response from the maintenance department concerning your request. The
maintenance department believes this new on-line work request option
will help make the process more effective and efficient.
Faculty Enrichment Award
The Alumni Association will once again present the
Faculty Enrichment Award, which includes a stipend of approximately
$1,000.
To apply, submit a letter/proposal that states the
reason you seek the award, indicating very specifically how you plan
to use the stipend and how it will enrich you as a faculty member of
Ozarks. Please limit your proposal to two pages and include letters
of recommendation from a student and division chair. The selection committee
will review applications based on merit, but will also focus on how
the proposal relates to the stated mission of the university.
Please turn in your letter/proposal to the Alumni
Office no later than January 31, 2001.
2001 Alumni Scholarships
The Alumni Association has scholarships available
to returning Ozarks students for the 2001-2002 academic year.
You should have an application in your C-box. However,
if you did not receive one or you live off campus, you may pick one
up from the Alumni Office located in the Mabee Administration Building.
Interested students must be individuals exemplifying
good moral character with a minimum 3.0 GPA. The completed application
form must be submitted with two letters of recommendation (one from
an Ozarks' faculty member). The deadline date has been extended and
all applications are due on February 2, 2001, not January 29th, 2001.
For any questions contact Lori McBee in Alumni Relations.
Community Service Hours
Get community service hours easily and help fulfill
your scholarship requirements!
Community service hours can be met by tutoring school
age children (K-12). These hours are counted as long as students are
not paid for the work. For more information on tutoring, contact Claudia
Granger in Student Life or Sara Stucky in the Sciences and Mathematics
Division.
For those interested, the After School Program still
has some Friday openings. Students can contact Sara Stucky to sign up.
Earthquake Rattles Students
On Saturday, Jan. 13, a major earthquake shook the
ground in Central America. The natural disaster caused extensive damage
to the country and affected U of O alumni and returning students.
Dr. Rickey Casey, director of international studies,
has received word that all students and
U of O alumni are OK. However, Roberto Amaya, a 1998 U of O alumnus,
lost his home in a mud slide. In addition, the earthquake damaged the
international airport and delayed the return to U of O of some current
students. Several of the students were interviewed for an article about
the earthquake in Sundays Russellville paper, The Courier.
On Monday, Jan. 22, all international students will
meet to have a group prayer for the country and the people affected
by the disaster. Also, plans are in the works to create a relief effort
for the country, which will include funds for Roberto Amaya. For more
information, contact
Dr. Casey.
