The President's
Post
The next two weekends
will be special ones at the University of the Ozarks. Alumni Week- end
2001 will be celebrated April 20-22, and the spring Board of Trustees
meeting will be conducted on April 26-28. Alumni Weekend is shaping
up to be one of the best ever, and a wide variety of activities are
planned. Last year more than 550 people attended Alumni Weekend, and
I think we will have even more attendees this year. The theme is, Traditions
of Excellence: A Celebration of the Past, Present, and Future,
and special reunions for Athletics and graduates of the Communications
Program are planned as well as a series of other exciting activities.
Many of the events are open to all members of the campus community,
and I welcome you to join us in the fun. One highlight of the weekend
will be a tribute and farewell to Hurie Hall. This formal ceremony and
last tour of the building is scheduled for Saturday, April 21, at 2:30
p.m. Come share in the memories!
I am always enthused to have Board of Trustee members
on campus and pleased that they have the opportunity to interact with
all of you. I know that Board members enjoy their discussions with staff
and students, and they appreciate your suggestions and insights. You
help them to make better, more informed decisions, and we are an improved
campus because of your involvement. A special feature of this Board
meeting will be the formal dedication of Mabee Residence Hall, our third
new residence building. The dedication is scheduled for Friday, April
27, at 4:30 p.m. I invite you to attend.
I am proud of this campus and always anxious to share
it with alumni, Board of Trustee members, and other visitors. Most of
all I am proud of you, the campus community, for maintaining Ozarks
Tradition of Excellence. This campus really is something
special.
