The President's Post
Arkansas has no other campus more beautiful
than ours. The location, climate, and setting are magnificent. Most
of our buildings and facilities are new, and we are currently involved
in more construction as well as scheduling additional renovations. The
campus landscaping is second to none, artistically designed, unique
in its foliage, and expertly maintained by our grounds personnel. We
now have a number of benches and informal gathering places strategically
located throughout the campus with plans to add more. Life is good at
the University of the Ozarks.
With that in mind, I am asking for your assistance
in helping us keep our campus beautiful. You can assist in a couple
of ways. First, each building has a bulletin board for flyers and posters.
Please use the bulletin boards instead of taping announcements on windows,
doors, and walls. Windows to our entrance doors are often cluttered
with notices, and when taped materials are removed from varnished and
painted areas, the surfaces are damaged. If enough bulletin board space
is not available for your use or you think the boards need to be placed
in different locations, please contact me or Darrell Williams. We will
see that additions and adjustments are made. We are currently working
on creative ways to continue to post materials in the residence halls.
Second, if you are a smoker, please use the proper
receptacle when disposing of cigarettes. Although we have added a number
of cigarette urns and containers throughout the campus for your convenience,
the sidewalks and building entrances remain littered with cigarette
butts. If there are locations where additional receptacles are needed,
let us know that as well. Your help with this is greatly appreciated.
I think these are reasonable requests. Let's work
together and keep our campus the most beautiful one in Arkansas.
Best wishes,
Rick Niece, Ph.D.
President
