The President's Post
I
am always proud for visitors to see our campus and for us to share our
generous hospitality. We recently had two groups of important people
on campus, and each group was impressed by our sense of friendliness
as a University community and our caring nature as a campus family.
You make me proud to be your President. The fall meeting of the Board
of Trustees was another rousing success. I wanted this meeting to be
a celebration of the Board members and a recognition of their conscientious
work, faithful dedication, and unwavering belief in the University of
the Ozarks and all of us. And it was. Our recent successes are due to
the Board of Trustees and each member's commitment to our mission and
support of our vision. The Board appreciated having so many of you --
faculty, staff, and students -- serving on the various committees and
attending the Saturday morning meeting of the full Board. Your insights,
suggestions, and candor allow Board members to better understand this
campus and to make decisions with more information and awareness. I
liked the open atmosphere of our Board meetings and am please we have
eliminated the behind-closed-doors, shroud of mystery that usually accompanies
meetings of that nature. Our collegial process is working, and I thank
all of you for your involvement. We also hosted the Presidents of the
other private universities in Arkansas for their annual conference.
I am the chair of that group for this year, the Association of Arkansas'
Independent Colleges and Universities, and I felt truly privileged
to have my colleagues join us on our campus. Many of you helped to make
the meeting a success. I especially appreciated the involvement of our
students who served as tour guides, provided musical entertainment,
and took time to visit with the conference visitors. Through your efforts,
we again demonstrated why Ozarks' students are second to none. Thanks
for all you do!
Dr. Rick Niece
