The President's
Post
I received the following letter from Dr. Joan Dixon Broyles, Dr.
Broyles' wife. I felt it was appropriate to share it with the campus
community.
Dear Dr. Niece:
On behalf of myself, the family and friends of Dr. Alvin C. Broyles,
I would like to extend a warm round of thanks to the entire Ozarks community
for their assistance with Alvin's funeral service.
I am well aware of the hard work that was put into the Chapel and the
Seay Student Center in order to prepare them for the events. I have
never seen the Chapel or the dining hall look better. I was taken back
when I saw Alvin's oak casket against the newly finished wood in the
front of the Chapel. Last summer when the work on the Chapel was being
completed, none of us realized that "we were getting it ready for Alvin's
funeral." I think that it is quite appropriate that the appearance of
the Chancel is once again much like it would have been when Alvin first
stepped onto the Ozarks campus.
Please thank the Advancement Office and Print Shop for the wonderful
program, housekeeping and the maintenance crew for the extra clean up
work, ARAMARK for their terrific service, and everyone else who contributed.
I am especially grateful to those at the University who gave up what
would have otherwise been a day of vacation in order to help prepare
the campus and make certain that the day went smoothly.
Finally, thank you, Dr. Rick Niece, for the fitting tribute on behalf
of the University community.
Alvin would have been proud!
With much love and appreciation,
Dr. Joan DeVee Dixon Broyles
