The President's Post
What a remarkable year this has been! And it certainly went by quickly.
In a few days we will be saying congratulations and good-bye to an exceptional
group of seniors, and they will be missed. These are individuals who
made a positive difference as students, and they will continue to make
a difference during the next stage of their lives. I look forward to
their accomplishments and am proud to have them represent Ozarks as
our alumni. We can all take pride in our influence on their education
and our contribution to their personal development.
This year was a defining year for the University of
the Ozarks. The $39.5 million gift from the Walton Family Charitable
Support Foundation allows us to address aggressively the challenges
and many needs discussed on this campus for a number of years. The quality
of life for our students, faculty, and staff is improving and will get
even better. Residence hall renovations, new apartment-style living
quarters, increased recreational facilities, improved student life programming,
additional faculty members, expanded course offerings and a more flexible
schedule, better marketing and promotion of the University these
are no longer infeasible items on a wish list of dreams. They are happening.
What a remarkable year this has been! Thanks
for being a part of it.
Rick Niece, Ph.D.
