B.A., University of the Ozarks

After graduating from U of O with a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1985, Nancy chose to stay in the Clarksville area, working in payroll and engineering in local manufacturing plants. She returned to U of O in December 1998 to work in the learning center. "[U of O] still feels like home," says Nancy. "I loved being able to come back to Ozarks!"

Coming from jobs where she dealt mainly with numbers, it was quite a change to begin working with students. "Numbers are so structured, and here, you just have to kind of go with the flow!" she says. As Director of Auxiliary Services in the learning center, Nancy oversees the hiring and training of 125 work-study students whose job is to help learning center students overcome challenges with their schoolwork.

Nancy communicates frequently with professors to make sure student tutors and note-takers are accurately recording and presenting course materials. "The biggest challenge is finding work-study students for upper-level courses," says Nancy. She always tries to find a tutor or note-taker who has already taken or is currently taking the course.

Nancy also oversee's the center's "books on tape" program. Under this program, textbooks and study guides are recorded onto audio tape for learning center students to use as they study. "We'll read anything [students] request," she says.

Nancy lives in Clarksville with her husband and their three children. She enjoys reading and watching her children play sports. "All three are heavily into sports," says Nancy. "Between them, they play baseball, basketball and football, so we've got the major sports covered!"
