Melodye completed her computer operations degree at Capital City Business College in 1987 and began working in the Jones Learning Center in 1989. She saw the learning center as a place where she could make positive changes. "I wanted a job where I felt what I was doing every day made a difference in others' lives," says Melodye. "Working with students with learning disabilities, seeing the challenges they face and their perseverance in overcoming the obstacles they encounter has been a very rewarding experience for me."
Melodye believes Ozarks is a special place. "Ozarks provides a positive learning environment where everyone works together to help students acheive their goals," she says. "I am fortunate to work on a beautiful campus where everyone is treated like family." She has learned a lot from learning center students, and hopes they they will leave Ozarks with a sensse of pride in their accomplishments. "I hope they will have the ability to take what they have learned and apply it to their everyday lives and careers."
When she's not helping students in the learning center, Melodye works with students in the Ozarks chapter of Catholic Campus Ministries. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, four-wheeling, swimming, and spending time with her husband and children, whom she says are a source of inspiration for her. She also loves animals, and over the years have given a home to numerous cats!
