Leanita Pelts is a longtime employee on the Ozarks campus, but a relative newcomer to the Jones Learning Center.

"I'd been trying to get into the learning center for 21 years!" said Pelts. She began working as the office manager for the university's Division of Education in 1985, and finally made the move to the learning center as a Program Coordinator in August 2006.

Leanita has traded supervising an office and overseeing tests for education majors to consulting one-on-one with students whose majors range "From communications to biology to undecided!" She truly enjoys working with students, noting, "It can be a challenge to get students to get beyond thinking 'I don't know how to write a paper.' [But] it's great to see them succeed and be independent! I want to help students believe in their ability to achieve. My motto is 'If you can believe it, you can achieve it.'"

A Clarksville native, Pelts earned a bachelor's degree from Ozarks in 2004 before going on to earn her master's degree at the University of Arkansas. She and her husband enjoy exploring the Ozark mountains near campus, often riding in their combination Jeep/Four-Wheeler.
