Kathy Sexton joined the JLC staff in 1989 as a learning disabilities assistant. One year later, she became a program coordinator, a position she has held -- and enjoyed -- ever since.

"The best part of working in the Jones Learning Center is the opportunity to watch students blossom!" Kathy says. "To see students enter as anxious, apprehensive freshmen and then watch the transformation to confident, capable college students is a great thrill."

Kathy firmly believes that the JLC program can help any student with a learning disability or Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). "The staff of the Jones Learning Center strives to provide students with individualized accomodations while at the same time promoting self-advocacy and a sense of responsibility. I believe that a student with a learning disability or ADD will benefit from the positive feedback they receive from other JLC students. The family atmosphere here is conducive to good study habits and improved skills."

Her students have shown her that with enough motivation, determination and hard work, anything is possible. Oh, and they taught her how to download a screen saver, too!

In the summer, Kathy gets a chance to take part in an activity she enjoys away from Ozarks -- gardening! She also enjoys reading and taking long hikes on the Ozark Highlands Trail, which runs not far from campus, with her husband.
