B.A., University of the Ozarks

A native of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Hunter graduated from Ozarks in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in general studies, and spent a year working in marketing and enrollment management at University of Phoenix in Little Rock before returning to Ozarks in September 2004.

Hunter says he is glad to be back at Ozarks. "I definitely like working on a college campus," says Hunter. "It doesn't really feel like work!" As the sole recruiter for the Jones Learning Center, Hunter travels throughout the United States, showing propsective students and their parents the benefits the learning center can offer.  As a former learning center student, Hunter is able to draw on his own experiences to help people understand that a learning disability or AD/HD doesn't prevent them from pursuing a college education.

"I used the learning center extensively [as a student]," Hunter says. "I saw my [learning center] coordinator several hours a week." He studied business while a student at Ozarks, and lists finance as one of his favorite classes. "I'm kind of a numbers person," he says. "I like to bring it all together -- numbers, statistics and other information -- and see the big picture."

Hunter enjoyed the one-on-one relationship he had with many of his professors. "If [students] need to speak to their professors, they can, and usually on the same day they need to," he says. Hunter felt that he benefited from the frequent communication with his professors. "They showed me what I needed to be successful."

Hunter enjoys hunting, fishing and hiking in some of the same spots around Clarksville he frequented as a student. "I love being outdoors. I try to make a trip out west every year." So far, his travels have included New Mexico, the Yukon, the Big Bend area in Texas and the Salmon River in Idaho.
