Debra joined the JLC staff in 1987 as a learning disabilities assistant and became a program coordinator in 1990.  She served as Assistant Director from 2005 to 2007.  "I have always enjoyed being an educator and helping others," says Debra. "Students with learning disabilities or Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) often encounter many difficulties with academics, and assisting these students in obtaining their educational goals gives me great pleasure."

Debra says one of her favorite things about Ozarks and the learning center is the family atmosphere. She believes students with a learning disability should consider the learning center for the professional academic support and dedication the staff gives each student. "Students seem to adjust quickly to college life through the special attention and care we give each of them," Debra says. Through working with students with learning disabilities, she has come to appreciate more than ever that all students are unique individuals who need specific assistance and support in pursuing their academic goals.

Debra continues to find inspiration in the challenges presented by her students. "How amazing and inspiring to see the dedication and committment students have, to meet the challenges of their learning disability or attention deficit disorder," she says.

In her spare time, Debra enjoys reading, attending church, wathcing live sporting events or just spending time with friends and family, shopping, eating out or watching movies.
