Debbie came to work in the Jones Learning Center in the fall of 2005, after teaching in a post-secondary school and teaching workplace training classes. She enjoys working one-on-one with learning center students, helping them prepare both for their classes and their future careers.
"Working with students who are goal-oriented is a very rewarding job," Debbie says. "(Learning center students) are overcoming their disabilities and turning them into opportunities."
As a coordinator in the learning center, Debbie sees herself as her students' personal organizer, manager, tutor and friend. "With the combined efforts of the JLC staff and coordinators, students have a greater opportunity to succeed in college," Debbie says. In addition to her daily work with students, she helps them get assistance from specialists in writing and math, who are available to all learning center students.
Debbie lives with her husband John and their two children in the mountains north of Clarksville. In her spare time, she enjoys going on four-wheeler and fishing trips with her family. "Riding the roller coasters in Branson is also a family favorite!" She also likes to go to estate auctions in the spring and summer.
