The Rev. Elizabeth Gabbard, University Chaplain
The Rev. Elizabeth Gabbard serves as Chaplain at University of the Ozarks.
Rev. Gabbard earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Lyon College, majoring in English literature, with minors in mathematics, religion/philosophy and history. She earned a Master of Divinity degree in 2007 from Columbia Theological Seminary, in Decatur, Ga.
Ordained on Nov. 8, 2009, Rev. Gabbard is a Teaching Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA). She currently preaches at Van Buren Presbyterian Church, and does youth work with Central Presbyterian Church and First Presbyterian Church, both in Fort Smith. She is also the non-profit administrator for Western Arkansas Ballet in Fort Smith. She previously served as Solo Pastor at JJ White Memorial Presbyterian Church in McComb, Miss., and was Director of Youth Ministries at Heritage Presbyterian Church in Acworth, Ga.
The University Chaplain organizes and leads the university’s weekly chapel service and other convocations. The Chaplain also provides spiritual counseling for the campus community, coordinates mission and outreach efforts, and serves as the university’s liaison to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
