The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Accreditation Process
The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) is an independent corporation and one of two commission members of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA), which is one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States.
The Higher Learning Commission accredits degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in the North Central region. The accreditation process is built on two major activities: institutional self-study and peer evaluation. Ozarks, due for the peer evaluation commission site visit in fall 2012, has the freedom to plan and conduct the process in a way that it feels would lead to continuing self-improvement and also would provide the evidence the Commission needs to grant accreditation.
At a meeting on Feb. 25, the Institutional Actions Council (IAC) of the HLC voted to "continue the accreditation of the University of the Ozarks with the next reaffirmation of accreditation to be set in 2022-23."
